Free Swing Classes.
We want everyone to know kettlebells and feel confident in their use so we are offering free swing instruction workshops all through January.
These workshops will run for 1 hour and are designed to give you the basic swing technique.
After that you can participate in our kettlebell classes, knowing how it all works.

Fatloss and aging
However, unlike the bad news you may have heard in the past, age is far from the "kiss of death" for fatloss.
One of the reasons your metabolic rate declines past the age of
35 is stress. The body's organs have undergone years of stress and simply do not perform as well as they should.
Another reason: Lifestyle.
Think about it: What was your lifestyle like at, say, 21? I bet you had far less responsibilities on your plate. I bet you had a lot more time and less to deal with in the day. This factors into the metabolic equation.
Finally there's what's called "The Hunter/Gatherer Factor".
When we're younger our body's genetic code says, "Use all the fuel you can... after all, we have to go and hunt down food!"
But we do not hunt for our food any longer. Unfortunately our genes do not realize this and go into "no more hunting" mode. The body slows down and fat-burning decreases. The body assumes it no longer needs to burn off the energy from food as rapidly.
The end result: Most people get over-fat as they age.
Fortunately this can be completely reversed in almost every case.
How?
# 1 Eat like a hunter/gatherer.
It's an easy principal of having no habits when it comes to eating.
Eat more some days, less others and mix it up.
The reason this works so well is simple: Eating this way fools your body into believing it's younger than it is. By consuming less food on specific days and more on others, you trick your body into increasing its metabolic rate. This can happen in as little as 3 weeks.
# 2 Resistance Training
Resistance exercise is really the ultimate key. Studies done at Michigan State University confirmed what I've known for years:
Resistance training, done in the gym with weights or in your home with resistance bands and/or bodyweight exercise, literally reverses the clock at the cellular level.
Your body reverts back to its "young mode". The food you eat is used more effectively and far less energy is stored as unwanted bodyfat.
And of course you get that sleek, toned look that most of us really want.
# 3 Role Modeling
Find someone who has done what you want to do and copy them.
# 4 Coaching.
The main reason that most people fail to reach their goals is because they have a lack of accountability. To keep you motovated employ a personal trainer or wellness coach and follow their direction.

Gradings for kickboxing
There will be a grading held every 3 months, and you will be graded on fitness, strength, technique as well as self discipline. The syllabus will contain knees, elbows, kicks, punches, and defence techniques. As you progress through the syllabus you will be required to spar and this will become part of your grading.
Cost's will remain the same and you will require a sparring kit which you can purchase from Edge 1st. There will be new club t'shirts available shortly and gradings will cost $45.00 for your certificate and arm band.
This will be a truly exciting stage in the development of E1 Hybrid Fighting Arts.
The power of gratitude.
Unfortunately, the ineffective way is far more common.
It is sort of the default form of gratitude that most people fall into. I was stuck here for a really long time until I found a far more powerful way to practice gratitude, one that moved me into perfect alignment with abundance and greatly accelerated the Law of Attraction.
First, let me talk about the ineffective way to express gratitude. This is gratitude that you express that is related to what is happening in your life right now.
It is closely related to the gratitude and appreciation we learn to express as children (i.e. to say thanks) and that is probably why it is often the default and why so many people get stuck here.
Ineffective gratitude includes things such as:
* your health
* your relationships
* your material posessions
* your friends and family
* a nice vacation
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this form of gratitude. All I am saying is that it is not nearly as powerful as what I am about to show you.
Often the problem with the above form of gratitude is that it comes from a place of lack. If you have ever expressed gratitude while thinking "at least... I am healthy, or at least I have a great family" then you know what I mean.
This form of gratitude is extremely week because it is based on the present circumstances. In other words, this form of gratitude is conditional. It makes it sound that you are grateful "only if you have good health, a great relationship, etc."
Unfortunately, conditional gratitude fails to activate the law of attraction. The universe does not respond to conditional requests.
The second form of gratitude is complete in that it is a celebration of life itself, for all the experiences you are having. One other key difference is this.
Effective gratitude comes from an underlying attitude vs. a temporary focus on one item or thing to be grateful for.
With practice, this holistic form of gratitude can become second nature. When it does, the law of attraction will flow far more easily into your life.
The more powerful form of gratitude includes items such as:
* your life
* this awesome planet
* for being who you are
* for future events
* for problems, challenges, and hardships
* for your mistakes
* for your mind
* for your freedom
In other words, you become grateful for this amazing journey of your life regardless of what happens and where it takes you because you know that it is just right for you and that everything is happening for a reason.
When you are expressing effective gratitude, fear and loss disappear. There is no focus on any lack and when you reach this state, that is when abundance can truly start flowing into your life.
Being grateful for what you have in your life (your health, relationships, etc.) has its place. But when you start feeling truly grateful for everything that is happening in your life and open your heart, you will be amazed at how quickly the universe will start to answer.
So, start creating these feelings now, even in the most unlikely or unpleasant circumstances and notice how you begin to attract whatever you focus on into your life.

Townsville adventure race
Hi There,
We have the opporunity to enter a team into the up coming adventure race in Townsville, july 18th 2010
Imagine what kayaking around Magnetic Island would feel like, or how about mountain biking through Paluma National Park.
It is not a Full on, knock em dead type race, it is aimed at entry level competitors, though that doesn't mean it will be easy.
The total race will be 12k kayak, 23k mountain bike, 6 k beach run.
I have designed a training program to prepare us for the race, yes I will be competing.
The program will be.
3 x 1 hour sessions (1 early morn) ( 1 afternoon ) ( 1 weekend ) obviously these will be 1 kayak, 1 cycle, 1 run.
There are only 8 spots available on the team and 2 are taken already, so if you are interested you need to register now.
A deposit of $155.00 will secure your spot, ( non refundable) and a direct debit of $40.00 per week. This is in addition to any other training you are already doing with us.
This will include your entry, a singlet and a towel and water bottle.
Obviously travel will be extra, we may hire a bus or fly, this is open to the team to decide.
I encourage you to commit to this, I guarantee it will change your life as well as giving you a level of fitness that will be hard to beat.
Go on, make 2010 the year you conquered your fear and became the best you could be.
